LUDHIANA: One person died and other was seriously injured after the motorcycle they were riding on was "hit" by a tractor trolley coming from opposite side on Rahon road near Khanna on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as around 54-year-old Sukhwinder Singh of Gill village, whereas the injured was identified as Nirmal Singh of Kalalmajra.
Cops said that Sukhwinder Singh, who owns a welding workshop, along with his friend Nirmal Singh was going to Lalheri village on his motorcycle for some work. They added that on Rahon Road, near Khanna, a speeding tractor trolley coming from opposite side hit their motorcycle even as they were on their side of road.
As per reports, tractor trolley tossed Sukhwinder, who was driving the bike, into air before his head hit the trolley after which he died on the spot. The reports suggested that the onlookers rushed the seriously injured Nirmal to the hospital in Khanna.
DSP Khanna, Rajesh Sharma said that police has registered a case against the unidentified accused for causing death due to negligence among other sections of IPC.
