Punjab finishes on top of Pool A

The fifth day at the 12th Hockey India Senior Men National Championships was a high-scoring but largely one-sided one with the winning teams booking a spot for themselves in the quarterfinals.

Punjab finished on top of Pool A with three points, ahead of Delhi on goal difference with a 12-0 win against Rajasthan in its last group game.

The results: Pool A: Punjab 12 (Lovepreet Jainth 2, Gurshahzad Singh Pirzada 2, Lovepreet Singh 2, Dharminder Singh 2, Mehkeet Singh, Ranjot Singh, Vishal Yadav, Jarmanjeet Singh) bt Rajasthan 0.

Pool B: Uttar Pradesh 8 (Rahul Singh, Mohd. Sadiq, Manish Sahani, Arjun Yadav, Rishabh Sahu, Dharmendra Yadav, Rahul Yadav, Monu Rajbhar) bt Telangana 0.

Pool C: Karnataka 14 (Somanna BP 4, Chelsea Medappa 3, Harish Mutagar 2, Yathish Kumar, Nachappa, Surya, Shamanth, Pranam Gowda) bt Andhra Pradesh 0.

Pool D: Maharashtra 7 (Taleb Shah 3, Harish Shindgi 2, Suraj Shahi, Mayur Dhanavade, Sajan) bt Bihar 1 (Sajan).

Pool G: Tamil Nadu 5 bt Manipur 0 (forfeited).
