BATHINDA: In a further blow to farmers’ political front Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, seven more farmer unions broke ties with it here on Monday and claimed that since nine had left already, the SSM remained with just five out of the original 21 constituents.
The 16 groups to have exited SSM formed a 5-member committee on Monday to keep the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) alive, while claiming that only Balbir Singh Rajewal, Kanwalpreet Singh Pannu, Prem Singh Bhangu, Bogh ingh Mansa, and one other unionist remained part of the SSM. Bhangu said he, too, had left the SSM, although it still existed with most of its 95 election contestants, who had formed an 11-member committee to run the party.
