NEW DELHI: In a no-holds-barred attack, the International Boxing Association (IBA) has accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of persecution and turning a blind eye to its own misdeeds in maintaining the boxing body’s global isolation on account of concerns over its governance and financial transparency.
After the IOC this week decided against lifting the suspension of IBA amidst the uncertainty surrounding the sport’s future on the Olympic programme for Los Angeles 2028, the IBA claimed that it’s been “punished for a culture of corruption that was created and nourished by some of the individuals from the IOC’s upper echelon and that this culture of corruption was developed over time and fixing it will take time to be done right, which has been ongoing for more than two years”.
