Pune: Woman killed in hit-&-run in Bavdhan

PUNE: The Hinjewadi police on Sunday registered a hit-and-run case in connection with the death of a 24-year-old woman whose scooter was hit by a vehicle in Bavdhan on February 25.

Initially, the police had recorded the case of accidental death, but converted it into a formal first information report (FIR) after the woman’s cousin lodged a complaint on Sunday.

Sub-inspector SP Shinde of the Hinjewadi police said the victim, Saniya Jadhav of Anandnagar, was working at a private firm in Baner. She used to travel via NDA-Pashan Road to reach the office. “On February 25, when she reached near the petrol pump along the NDA-Pashan Road, an unknown vehicle hit her scooter,” said Shinde, adding, “She was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, where she succumbed to the injuries.”
