Pune: MPSC aspirant assaulted with cement block

PUNE: The city police have booked three robbers for hitting a 28-year-old MPSC aspirant with a cement block on Friday night at Walhekarwadi in Chinchwad.

The victim, Ramesh Kharmate of Talegaon Dabhade, suffered injuries to his head in the attack.

Sub-inspector Vyankat Pote of the Chinchwad police told TOI that Kharmate had come to his previously rented accommodation in Walhekarwadi on Friday night to collect old textbooks for MPSC.

“Three motorcycle-borne men tried to snatch Kharmate’s smartphone near Gurudwara Chowk. Due to Kharmate’s resistance, the suspect could not snatch the smartphone. The trio then rode away from the spot,” Pote said.

“When Kharmate was under the railway bridge near the chowk, the trio, who were chasing him, stopped him. Two of them held Kharmate by his hands, picked up a cement block and hit him on his head,” Pote added.
