PUNE: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is planning to revamp and rationalise its airport bus service – ABHI – in accordance with the passenger traffic at the Pune airport during different times of the day.
Dattatraya Zende, PMPML’s traffic manager, said that presently a study was on and a special officer will be deputed to manage the service. “The ABHI buses were launched in October 2020. A total of 35 e-buses were started from the Pune airport to different parts of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. However, the service has not been able to make an impact as expected and now the number of buses has been reduced to 10. With the passenger traffic at the airport having increased, we need to revamp the service,” Zende told TOI.
Another PMPML official said that a study is being conducted in coordination with the Pune airport to know the time when the number of flyers is more at the airport.
“Studies have shown that time between 6am-10am, 12noon-2pm and 8pm-1am witness highest arrival passenger traffic. If we target flyers arriving late evening or by red-eye flights, we are sure to get passengers,” he said.
