Rio Ferdinand is a fan of West Ham United summer signing Gianlucca Scamacca, praising him after his first Premier League goal of the season.
The Italian striker was snapped up by the Hammers from Sassuolo and had found the back of the net twice in Europe but had come up short in domestic competition prior to Saturday.
The 2-0 victory over Wolves saw Scamacca open his league account, with Jarrod Bowen also breaking his duck in the league over weekend.

Following the match at the London Stadium, ex-West Ham defender Ferdinand reserved praise for the striker's finish while also highlighting how important it was for Bowen to score as well.
“What a strike [from Scamacca],” Ferdinand said on his Five YouTube show . "Mad strike. Yeah I like him as well… West Ham needed that. [Jarrod] Bowen was good as well, he needed that performance and goal.”
Ferdinand's fellow pundit and former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas also spoke highly of Scamacca's goal and performance over the weekend. Speaking as a guest on Ferdinand's show, he said: “Scamacca by the way, that strike…he’s nice."
Scamacca took his goal well, controlling the ball brilliantly and getting off a clean strike from the edge of the penalty area while Bowen pounced on Thilo Kehrer's blocked shot before shuffling past Rayan Ait-Nouri to finish with aplomb
