Punchestown Festival tips plus best bets for Cheltenham, Newmarket, Goodwood, Wolverhampton and Newcastle

The action continues from Punchestown on Friday where the Festival enters its penultimate day.

And there is also racing at Cheltenham on a busy afternoon as we head into the weekend.

Our man Garry Owen picks out his best bets for all of the big meetings.

BARTZELLA (3.15) can bloom for in-form William Haggas in the Daisy Warwick Stakes at Goodwood.

The filly improved again when bolting up from Without Envy in a red-hot Ascot novice in October.

The daughter of Golden Horn will be even better at four so she can add this Listed event to her CV.

NEW KINGDOM (1.30) can extend Charlie Appleby’s amazing run in the EBF Conditions Stakes.

The colt didn’t quite stay 1m 2f when third behind Nations Pride in the Jumeirah Derby at Meydan.

That was still an excellent effort so this pacey type can get his career back on track over a fast mile.

The William Hill Handicap looks competitive but I’m siding with CLARENDON HOUSE (2.40).

Robert Cowell’s colt ended a productive 2021 by chinning the useful Prim's Comet at Musselburgh.

The sprinter looks open to progress at four so he can dish out weight and a beating to a decent field.

Team Appleby can also get on the scoresheet at Newmarket with NATIONS PRIDE (1.50).

The colt produced another career best when slamming Sed Maarib in a valuable event at Meydan.

There is plenty more to come from this smart type who should easily book his Epsom Derby place.

The Godolphin Ace can then take the King Charles II Stakes with NOBLE TRUTH (2.25).

Group 1-placed last year, the three-year-old hated the all-weather when well-beaten at Riyahd.

However, he retains plenty of ability so he can account for some promising rivals back on Turf.

Appleby can make it three with superstar YIBIR (3.35)in the Jockey Club Stakes.

The gelding was just denied yet another top-level win by the talented Shahryar at Meydan.

The four-year-old should be fighting fit so he can gain compensation in these calmer waters.

ABLE KANE (3.00) can thrash his rivals for Brian Millman in the Betfair Handicap.

Progressive last year, the gelding returned with a respectable fourth to Accidental Agent here.

The likeable five-year-old should be primed so he can take full advantage of a workable mark.

Roger Varian’s LEGEND OF DUBAI (4.45) can continue to make up for lost time in the last.
