The hotly anticipated pump track is almost complete, with the main track now finished and open for business!
The project has been in the works for months, costing $445,000 under the Stronger Country Communities Fund. The track has been designed by internationally renowned company World Trail Pty Ltd.
The track is situated on Olympic Street, between the Griffith Community Centre and the skate park.
Urban Strategic Design & Major Projects Manager, Peter Badenhorst said that while the track is open, there is still work to go on some further amenities.
"The fences around the pump track have been removed to enable the community to start using the facility," said Mr Badenhorst.
"However there is still work to be done including the amenities such as the shelter with a BBQ, tables and benches, a bicycle service station and a water bottle fill station, which is scheduled for the coming weeks."
Mr Badenhorst encouraged users to take care around the active construction, and be mindful of workers or machinery that could be onsite.
Mayor Doug Curran said it was great to see the work completed.
"World Trail is one of the largest and most experienced companies in the world and Council is fortunate to be working with them on the pump track," he said.
"The community has gotten behind this project from the beginning, and it will be great to see everyone enjoying the area moving forward."
"I've seen that the track is already getting good use and while that is great to see, please do take care around the active construction site," he added.
