AGRA: Reacting to the controversy over a video showing a group of people offering namaz at a newly opened mall in Lucknow, member of parliament Satish Gautam on Friday said that “all religious activities should be performed at places of worship or within the confinement of one’s homes.”
“Public places and malls are not for performing puja or namaz. There are temples and mosques for this purpose.”
“Prayers should be offered at designated places else it causes inconvenience to the general public,” he added. Besides, he said, “Offering prayers on roads or public places is nothing more than a ‘dhong’ (pretence).”
