Potential terrorists among crowds of well-wishers remembering the Queen would seem "blatantly out of place" and uninterested in ceremonial events, a former counter-terrorism police chief has said. Nick Aldworth, who was the national co-ordinator for UK counter-terrorism policing until 2019, said members of the public should report people who seem more interested in what the police are doing and are acting secretively.
He told the PA news agency: "We are looking for people who are blatantly out of place. The ones who really aren't paying any attention to what's going on, they are not interested in the ceremonial events.
"They might be overly observing police officers or cameras. They will be potentially acting furtively. We all know when somebody's out of place.
