The public have one chance to save the historic Moore Street from controversial development plans, a politician has claimed.
Sinn Fein Senator Fintan Warfield was performing earlier at this year's TradFest, a celebration of traditional Irish music taking place across the city centre. A pop up outdoor music session took place on Moore Street today to showcase the best trad music on offer in the capital.
Fintan is also a renowned musician, having spent several years touring with Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones. He performed at today's event on Moore Street and, in a chat with Dublin Live, he urged the public to safeguard the area from divisive development plans.

Dublin City Council previously granted planning permission for a build to rent apartment scheme to UK property giant Hammerson. The scheme was slammed by many figures, including Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald, and an appeal has been lodged against its construction.
Fintan told Dublin Live: ".We have one chance to protect our heritage. Our view is that the whole terrace should be restored - we have one chance to replace this site and create a cultural quarter. It’s a part of our city that needs to be protected."
The organiser of TradFest, Martin Harte, also praised the street's status as a cultural hub, saying the expansion of the festival onto Moore Street had been received positively.
Martin Harte said: "This is the first time TradFest has had an event here on Moore Street but we've had loads of traditional musicians down here every weekend for the last 6 to 8 weeks. This is a feature we're going to expand on-we love Moore Street, it's a great cultural hub and it adds so much to the vibrancy of this space."
Pop up trad sessions are also taking place in the GPO Arcade for the remainder of this week in line with the festival. People interested in attending one of the music sessions can find out more via Tradfest Temple Bar's website.
