A public consultation has been launched for a proposed development of over 1,100 homes in Cherry Orchard.
Cherry Orchard Point is a cost rental, social and affordable purchase housing project involves proposals for 1,131 homes and 23,400 sqm of retail and community space. The breakdown involves around 905 cost rental and affordable purchase homes and 226 social homes.
Additionally, a total of 3,776 sqm will be reserved for retail use and there are plans for two creches and up to 18,000 sqm of commercial/enterprise use located near to the M50. The plans are being developed with Dublin City Council on greenfield lands owned by the council beside Park West Avenue and the Park West & Cherry Orchard Railway Station.
The mix of homes will include one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments in the initial phase, plus two and three-bedroom own-door homes in subsequent phases. Many homes will have views over a new park or landscaped communal courtyard gardens.

Large purpose-built storerooms will be provided in all homes in addition to fitted wardrobes. The consultation process for the proposed development will run for a period of 4 weeks from today June 14.
A series of phased planning applications will be submitted, starting in the coming months.
The project will involve four phases initially, with a landmark 15-storey residential building envisaged as part of Phase 1. It is expected that the overall development will increase the numbers living in the area by between 1,800 to 2,000 people.
