Psychology says people who wear unkempt clothes at home aren't necessarily lazy or depressed. Some people choose old T-shirts, loose trousers, worn-out shirts or clothes that they would not wear outside. The reason can be simple. They want to feel comfortable in their own space. Clothing can also affect how people behave and feel. At home, a person may no longer need to follow the appearance rules that apply at work, school or social settings. Changing into familiar clothes can create a mental separation between outside responsibilities and private time. This behaviour, by itself, is not a sign of a mental disorder.
