Psychology says maintaining a daily routine can protect your mental health when life feels uncertain

Uncertainty is a part of life that is tough to avoid and needs to be dealt with. There are multiple ways to deal with things that are beyond our control. In these kinds of situations, one thing that can really help is having a routine, as it allows a person to divide time in things that need to be done, helping them to remain occupied and stay productive at the same time.

Now imagine waking up on a Tuesday morning with nowhere you need to be. There is a certain sense of emptiness around you with your alarm off, the calendar empty, and your usual workday structure having disappeared after an unexpected job loss or a sudden leave to care for a sick relative.
