Psycho axe killer Oliver Doran 'emotionless' after he was caught by gardai

Axe killer Oliver Doran confided in someone he knows that he had butchered an elderly man just hours after carrying out the barbaric act.

Psycho Doran, who was last week sentenced to life over the April 2021 killing of Kwok Ping Cheng, remained completely deadpan and emotionless after gardai captured him. Officers also do not believe a motive will ever be uncovered for the murder, leaving Mr Cheng’s family without any answers as to why the 76-year-old was targeted.

Mr Cheng was known affectionately as “Chinese George” by his neighbours where he lived in sheltered accommodation at Robinson’s Court in Dublin 8. In a random attack, thug Doran climbed in through the victim’s rear window – which was left open – and proceeded to hack him to death.

CCTV from April 28, 2021 shows Doran entering the apartment at 9.59pm and staying until 11.12pm, before he left and returned to his own home. He later returned at 1.03am on April 29 and stayed for 11 minutes in a bid to clear any evidence. In the following hours Doran told someone he knows that he had killed a person.

A source said: “The victim of the attack suffered a brutal death. The property was absolutely covered in blood. He didn’t stand a chance, the poor man.”

After the killing, Doran ditched a number of weapons in Clondalkin, which included nunchucks, a hammer and a crowbar along with clothing. He fled to England before returning and was arrested some days later.

But evil 24-year-old Doran – who had 98 convictions before the murder – claimed he could not recall what happened after he had taken drink and drugs. Gardai initially thought it was a burglary which had gone wrong.

Another source explained: “Doran acted like he didn’t realise what a horrific act he had carried out. That’s no use for the grieving family. But at least he’s behind bars for a very long time, where he belongs.”

Doran, of with an address at Sophia Housing, Cork Street, Dublin, initially pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Cheng and his trial began in January. He later changed his plea to one of guilty.
