PSNI officers have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead at a property in Co. Antrim on Saturday evening.
Officers were called to the scene at around 6:10 pm in the Victoria Avenue area of Whitehead and were informed that a woman had been stabbed.
Emergency services also attended the incident, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man has since been arrested and remains in police custody.
A statement released by the PSNI read: “Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the report of a stabbing in Whitehead on Saturday evening, 16th April.
“We received a report at around 6:10 pm that a woman had been stabbed at a property in the Victoria Avenue of Whitehead.
“Officers attended, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
“Sadly, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Detective Inspector Foreman said: “A man has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
“At this stage we are not looking for any other suspects.
“Our enquiries are at any early stage. However, I would appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1502 of 16/04/22.”
