PSNI appeal after 'teens spotted on frozen pond' at the Waterworks North Belfast

The PSNI has put out an appeal for people to be careful in the cold weather after reports of teenagers walking on a frozen pond in Belfast.

Officers received a report on Friday that two teen boys had been allegedly on the ice at the Waterworks Park in North Belfast.

The appeal comes after four young boys died after falling into the water of a frozen lake in Solihull in England.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Just after 3pm today, we responded to a report of two male teenagers walking on the frozen pond at the Waterworks Park.

"By the time we got there, the males had gone and we have been unable to identify them.

"Recent tragic events in England have shown just how dangerous this can be - so please don't do it.

"Thank you to the person who called this in."
