Liverpool travel to take on Paris Saint-Germain tonight in the first leg of their massive Champions League last-16 tie.
Finishing top of the new-look league phase in Europe’s significantly revamped elite club competition with seven wins and only one defeat from their eight matches did not spare the Reds from a tough first knockout assignment, with underperforming PSG having only managed a 15th-place finish before thrashing French rivals Brest 10-0 on aggregate in a thoroughly one-sided play-off tie that included a 7-0 win in the second leg.
