PSG took command of their Champions League last-16 first leg against Chelsea with a dominant 5-2 victory at the Parc des Princes.
The game was tight for more than an hour and Enzo Fernandez’s second-half equaliser made it 2-2 to put the Blues in a strong position.
But Filip Jorgensen, given the chance to start in goal, made a big mistake and was punished by Vitinha, before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored two late goals to give PSG control of the tie.

Liam Rosenior still learning on the job after Jorgensen’s Kinsky moment condemns Chelsea to Champions League defeat at PSG
22:40 , Chris WilsonA tie that had looked enthrallingly unpredictable, only for the first leg to be set by perhaps the most predictable development possible.
Liam Rosenior had replaced Robert Sanchez with Filip Jorgenson specifically for his footwork, and of course it was a bad goalkeeper pass that set up Vitinha for a decisive goal.
After that, Paris Saint-Germain took a step up – and then another two – and Chelsea didn’t go with them.

Federico Valverde caps superb night for Real Madrid’s understudies as Pep Guardiola gets it wrong
23:30 , Chris WilsonThe report from the other big game of the day, as Real Madrid beat Man City in their first leg tie...
There are performances that are destined for a special place even in a history as rich as Real Madrid’s. Fede Valverde has achieved much in his time at the Bernabeu and may yet end this season lifting the Champions League trophy but this was his night, a seminal, spectacular performance.
Often Real’s deluxe odd-job man, Valverde took on the role of the superstar, glittering on a terrible night for Pep Guardiola.
No Kylian Mbappe, no Jude Bellingham, no Rodrgyo? No problem. Valverde more than compensated for the absence of Real’s injured attackers. He took on the mantle of the sidelined Rodrygo, often the tormentor of Manchester City.

Chelsea stung by late goals as PSG claim first-leg advantage
23:20 , Chris WilsonFilip Jorgensen’s costly error at the Parc des Princes was the pivotal moment as Chelsea suffered a late collapse to lose 5-2 to Paris St Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
The visitors had twice recovered from a goal down and looked like surviving an intriguing match with a draw when, in the 74th minute, Jorgensen’s pass was cut out easily by Bradley Barcola, substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia squared it and Vitinha chipped the stranded goalkeeper.
Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez had earlier scored equalisers in answer to goals by Barcola and Ousmane Dembele.

Liam Rosenior takes blame for Jorgensen mistake as Chelsea suffer late collapse against PSG
23:10 , Chris WilsonChelsea manager Liam Rosenior has taken the blame for his side’s defeat to PSG in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, explaining that he asked his team “to play a certain way” in Paris.
The Blues fell to a 5-2 loss to the Champions League holders at the Parc des Princes after a late collapse saw them concede three goals in 20 minutes, and it was a mistake from goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen that handed Vitinha PSG’s third goal.
The Blues ‘keeper tried to pass out from inside his own area but it was intercepted before Vitinha lobbed him to make it 3-2, and from there Chelsea conceded two more to leave themselves with a mountain to climb in next week’s second leg.

Cole: 'There are ways to play'
23:00 , Chris WilsonHere are the thoughts of Joe Cole on TNT at full-time:
"Chelsea looked comfortable at 2-2. Even at 3-2 you'd take going back to Stamford Bridge, with a lot from the game.
“The decision to play out, I think there has to be an element of knowing when to do that.
“This is a way of playing, and it’s a methodology, and the idea is we'll get better at it.
“They think the rewards outweigh the risks. But I think there are ways to play. I think the midfield steps up at 70 minutes, and it cost them,” added the former Chelsea winger.

More from Rosenior
22:50 , Chris Wilson“We don’t have a lot of time to digest, we’ve got to make sure we recover,” adds Liam Rosenior.
“We don’t blame for mistakes and we don’t make the same mistakes twice,” he explains.
On whether his side can mount a comeback, he adds: “You’ve seen it happen before, we don’t give up, we have to come up with a strong plan to get back into the tie.”

Rosenior: 'I’m accountable, I ask the team to play a certain way'
22:30 , Chris WilsonLiam Rosenior had the following to say when speaking after the match:
“We made a mistake, we didn’t stay calm. In that moment we’re in the tie, and then Kvaratskhelia scores an unbelievable goal. And that happens.
“It’s disappointing, you never want to lose a game but that last goal, after a flash point, it makes it very difficult to come back from, but it’s not impossible.
On Jorgensen’s mistakes, he adds: “You have risks, myself I’m accountable, I ask the team to play a certain way.”
Hoddle: 'Game has been turned on its head'
22:25 , Chris Wilson"Wow, how this game has been turned on its head," said former Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle on TNT Sports.
"Beautiful bit of play, lovely skill. They're in behind, it's a lovely little position that Kvaratskhelia picks up on the penalty spoke. Hakimi has time to look up, passes it across the box here. He hits the target, he doesn't hit it that well. Jorgensen can't get down quick enough."
Kvaratskhelia: 'We just have to work hard'
22:20 , Chris Wilson“We did a great job today, it’s important for us because we have the game in London. We just have to be focused on the next game,” said PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after the final whistle.
“It’s difficult, when Vitinha scored the game changed. It was difficult, Chelsea were good, they scored two away from home. We are the same team, you saw that we can handle it, and I think we just have to work hard and continue.
“Three goals, but everything is possible so we are ready for the next game and we go again,”

FULL-TIME! PSG 5-2 Chelsea
22:05 , Chris WilsonWell, what a game at the Parc des Princes.
Chelsea gave a great account of themselves for 75 minutes or so but then imploded late on to concede three goals and leave themselves with a mountain to climb in next week’s second leg.
PSG showed plenty of quality though and while Chelsea controlled a decent portion of the game, it was mistakes and individual quality that shone through in the end, with Jorgensen at fault and Kvaratskhelia producing game-defining moments.
A three-goal deficit might well be too much to claw back for the Blues, but they’ll take plenty of encouragement from the problems the caused PSG tonight, and who knows what could happen if they make a quick start at the Bridge.
FULL-TIME! PSG 5-2 Chelsea
22:00 , Chris Wilson

FULL-TIME! PSG 5-2 Chelsea
21:56 , Chris WilsonThat goal is the final moment of an enthralling match and Chelsea fall to a potentially damaging defeat in Paris.
It was all going so well for the Blues but it fell apart in the final 20-odd minutes, with Rosenior’s side conceding three to leave themselves with plenty to do in next week’s second leg.
GOAL! PSG 5-2 Chelsea (Kvaratskhelia, 90 +4')
21:55 , Chris Wilson90 +4 mins
GOAL! That could be a vital goal in this tie!
PSG launch a final attack and Hakimi is sent through on the right. He cuts it back to Kvaratskhelia and the Georgian bundles a low effort past Jorgensen for five!

PSG 4-2 Chelsea
21:53 , Chris Wilson90 +2 mins
Into the first minute of added time here. There’s a brief break as Neto gives a ball boy a nudge and all of the players get into a scuffle.
Neto is not given a card, which is obviously the correct outcome.
DISALLOWED GOAL! PSG 4-2 Chelsea
21:51 , Chris Wilson90 mins: PSG have the ball in the net again but it’s offside!
Almost another huge mistake from Jorgensen as a poor pass is straight to a PSG shirt, but Barcola was offside as he slid in for Lee to finish.
PSG 4-2 Chelsea
21:50 , Chris Wilson88 mins: A late change for Chelsea as Garnacho comes on for Gusto.
PSG had a chance to grab a fifth moments ago but Mayulu couldn’t turn in from Kvaratskhelia’s cross.
GOAL! PSG 4-2 Chelsea (Kvaratskhelia 86')
21:47 , Chris Wilson86 mins: GOAL! What a hit this is, and it could be so damaging for Chelsea!
It’s a superb goal from Kvaratskhelia, who picks up the ball on the left and cuts inside past a challenge before curling a brilliant effort into the far corner!

PSG 3-2 Chelsea
21:44 , Chris Wilson84 mins: A first sight of goal for Delap but he blasts a shot well wide.
PSG 3-2 Chelsea
21:43 , Chris Wilson82 mins: Half a chance for PSG on the counter but the pass misses Kvaratskhelia at the back post.
Chelsea make two changes as Palmer and Pedro make way for Liam Delap and Romeo Lavia.
PSG 3-2 Chelsea
21:40 , Chris Wilson79 mins: Chelsea have the ball in the net but it looks offside on first glance.
Fernandez came back from an offside position before fizzing in a great pass that Pedro fires in first time.
However, it’s chalked off on review.
GOAL! PSG 3-2 Chelsea (Vitinha, 74')
21:35 , Chris Wilson74 mins: GOAL! Chelsea have gifted PSG a lead!
The ball comes back to Jorgensen and he scuffs a pass straight to Barcola. The Frenchman lays it off and it comes back to Vitinha, whose touch bounces up before he clips a perfect lob over the Chelsea ‘keeper for 3-2.

PSG 2-2 Chelsea
21:34 , Chris Wilson72 mins: Fatigue looks like it’s setting in for both sides. Chelsea should be lining up some changes soon.

PSG 2-2 Chelsea
21:30 , Chris Wilson69 mins: Chelsea aren’t able to keep the ball for extended periods at the moment but they’re not conceding any big chances either, and at the moment it’s been a solid away performance in Europe.
And a change for PSG now, as Lee Kang In comes on for Dembele! Perhaps a surprise, but maybe Enrique is saving him for the second leg.
PSG 2-2 Chelsea
21:27 , Chris Wilson67 mins: Plenty of possession for PSG but they aren’t doing a lot with it, while their high line is leaving a lot of space in behind for the visitors.
Pedro does well to win and keep the ball in midfield but the visitors are forced backwards for now.
PSG 2-2 Chelsea
21:24 , Chris Wilson64 mins: Almost superb from Barcola as he clips it past Fofana before taking on Gusto, but the Chelsea defender does enough.
PSG 2-2 Chelsea
21:22 , Chris Wilson63 mins: A change for PSG as Doue is replaced by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Can the Georgian produce some magic this evening?
PSG 2-2 Chelsea
21:21 , Chris Wilson61 mins: What can PSG muster up in response to that? Or can Chelsea even take a win back to London?
The holders were clear favourites in this one and they’ll be expected to take a positive result back to Stamford Bridge, and while they’ve looked very good at times, they remain open on the counter.
GOAL! PSG 2-2 Chelsea (Fernandez, 58')
21:20 , Chris Wilson58 mins: GOAL! Chelsea are level again and it’s a lovely goal from the visitors.
It all comes from great work from Neto, who races down the wing and beats his man before cutting back a perfect pass to the feet of Enzo Fernendez.
The cutback is inch-perfect and Fernandez simply has to lift a powerful finish past Safonov for 2-2!

PSG 2-1 Chelsea
21:17 , Chris Wilson56 mins: Well played from Doue to skip past a couple of tackles on the right, but Caicedo does very well to nip in and shepherd the ball out of play.
PSG 2-1 Chelsea
21:15 , Chris Wilson53 mins: Both Neto and Pedro are operating as decent outlets for the visitors, but they haven’t been able to create anything on the counter so far in this second half.
At the other end, Mendes skips past a challenge to create and opening, though the chances goes begging as Hakimi’s cross is cleared.

PSG 2-1 Chelsea
21:10 , Chris Wilson50 mins: Good running from Palmer to win a corner off Neves.
The set-piece is taken short but it’s a wasted opportunity for the Blues before Neto is dispossessed in the PSG box.
A good spell from Chelsea though, who win the ball back in their half almost immediately.
PSG 2-1 Chelsea
21:07 , Chris Wilson47 mins: Mendes tries to release Barcola down the left, but Jorgensen does really well to calmly shepherd the ball away from the Frenchman.
KICK-OFF! PSG 2-1 Chelsea
21:05 , Chris WilsonBack underway in the French capital! A huge half ahead for both sides.
HALF-TIME! PSG 2-1 Chelsea
21:03 , Chris WilsonBoth sides are back in the tunnel at the Parc des Princes, so we should be back in action soon.
HALF-TIME! PSG 2-1 Chelsea
21:00 , Chris WilsonA very entertaining half for the neutral in Paris, with both sides showing what they can do in attack.
PSG got off to a near-perfect start with that Barcola opener and they might have had a second but for a great Jorgensen save, though they were soon dragged back level after a well-taken goal from Malo Gusto.
But while Chelsea were in the ascendancy before their equaliser, once they scored they sat back and enable the hosts to regain control, ending with Dembele slotting a lovely effort in for 2-1.
It’s only halfway in the first leg but Chelsea need to be careful not to let the tie get away from them, though they’ll have plenty of belief after controlling portions of the opening 45 minutes.
HALF-TIME! PSG 2-1 Chelsea
20:55 , Chris Wilson

HALF-TIME! PSG 2-1 Chelsea
20:49 , Chris WilsonThe referee blows the whistle for half-time and PSG go into the break ahead in this first leg.
They probably deserve it on balance after two great goals, though Chelsea have showed they have plenty of fight left in them and the ability to hurt the hosts.
PSG 2-1 Chelsea
20:48 , Chris Wilson44 mins: Chelsea haven’t managed to fight their way back into it since conceding again, and maybe half-time will come at a good time.
Fernandez works a decent opening on the edge of the PSG box but he can’t find the final pass.
Just one minute of time added on here.
GOAL! PSG 2-1 Chelsea (Dembele, 40')
20:45 , Chris Wilson40 mins: GOAL!
Just 14 seconds after that Safonov save, PSG are ahead again!
They launch a quick counter and Doue finds Dembele on halfway, He has half the pitch to run but he’s almost clean through as he races to the edge of the area.
Fofana has made the ground up but Dembele cuts inside and then back out to make room for the shot, before sliding a low effort past a wrong-footed Jorgensen.

PSG 1-1 Chelsea
20:42 , Chris Wilson40 mins: CLOSE!
A well-worked move from the visitors, with James cutting back a pass to Palmer, whose first-time effort stings the palms of the PSG ‘keeper.
Palmer might feel he should have scored!

PSG 1-1 Chelsea
20:39 , Chris Wilson37 mins: The hosts have just begun to pin Chelsea back for the moment. The Blues still look a threat on the break but Pedro is the latest to fail to make anything of it on the counter.
PSG 1-1 Chelsea
20:36 , Chris Wilson34 mins: PSG have started to dominate possession again here, though they haven’t created a chance since the equaliser. They’ve managed to calm it down a little though.
PSG 1-1 Chelsea
20:33 , Chris Wilson31 mins: That goal is no less than Chelsea deserve, as they responded very positively to going behind. Now, how will PSG reply?
Fernandez is pressuring Zaire-Emery on the edge of his own box but he does well to get it away.
GOAL! PSG 1-1 Chelsea
20:31 , Chris Wilson28 mins: GOAL!
It’s been coming, and Chelsea have a deserved equaliser!
The cross comes to Gusto on the right-hand side of the box. He’s unmarked but he has plenty to do as he takes it down and then hits it into the floor, with PSG ‘keeper Safonov getting a hand to it but failing to keep it out.

PSG 1-0 Chelsea
20:28 , Chris Wilson25 mins: Another good save from Jorgensen, as Barcola cuts inside again and tries to curl one into the far corner, but the ‘keeper gets another good hand to it.
PSG 1-0 Chelsea
20:26 , Chris Wilson23 min: Chelsea continue to look the more dangerous of the two teams, with some decent combinations in midfield. However, the final pass has let them down in attack on a couple of occasions now.
PSG 1-0 Chelsea
20:24 , Chris Wilson20 min: The visitors are starting to get back into it now, and they’ve responded well to going behind on the whole.
Another half-chance goes begging as Joao Pedro opts for the wrong pass near the edge of the PSG box.

PSG 1-0 Chelsea
20:21 , Lawrence Ostlere17 min: Another quick move by Chelsea and they surely must score!
Enzo Fernandez slides in Pedro Neto down the left flank and he’s suddenly racing into the box, bearing down on goal. But Neto doesn’t shoot when he surely should have, trying instead to square it to teammates, and he delays enough so that PSG defenders get back to block the path.
PSG 1-0 Chelsea
20:18 , Lawrence Ostlere15 min: Post! And a big save by Jorgensen, repaying a bit of his manager’s faith by getting fingertips to Dembele’s powerful shot and pushing it on to the woodwork. That was flying, and it was going in.
PSG 1-0 Chelsea
20:17 , Lawrence Ostlere13 min: A sharp move by Chelsea, sparked by Cole Palmer feeding Malo Gusto down the right wing. He cuts inside and finds Enzo Fernandez on the edge of the box but the midfielder opts to smash a shot over the bar when a pass to the arriving Palmer would have been the better play.
GOAL! PSG 1-0 Chelsea (Barcola, 10')
20:13 , Lawrence OstlereWhat a start for the hosts! They work it well down the right where Dembele crosses to the back posts. Neves is there to head it down for Barcola, who takes a touch with his chest before thrashing a left-footed shot at goal, with the help of a deflection, and PSG lead.

PSG 0-0 Chelsea
20:08 , Lawrence Ostlere5 min: Jorgensen makes an early mistake with a poor pass out towards his left-back Cucurella and PSG pounce on the ball, but when the shot comes in, it’s Joao Neves from range and it’s easily saved down low.
PSG 0-0 Chelsea
20:07 , Lawrence Ostlere3 min: Reece James whips a good ball into the box and Joao Pedro stretches to turn it home, but can’t get more than half a toe on the ball. A chance, that.
PSG v Chelsea – line-ups
20:03 , Lawrence OstlereA reminder of tonight’s line-ups, as Liam Rosenior makes a big call in goal:

Match stats
19:30 , Chris WilsonIn terms of average age, Chelsea (24y 31d) and Paris SG (24y 195d) are the two teams with the youngest starting XIs fielded in the UEFA Champions League this season.
Since the start of last season, only Ousmane Dembele (16) has more combined goals and assists for Paris SG in the Champions League than full back Achraf Hakimi (13). The Moroccan also leads all players for the French side in this period for assists (8) and chances created (54).
Estevao is Chelsea’s joint-top scorer in the Champions League this season (3 – level with Joao Pedro). Should he find the net in this match, he would become the youngest ever South American player to score in a knockout stage game in the competition.

Match stats
19:17 , Chris WilsonSince losing 2-1 to PSG in March 2016, Chelsea have won all six of their Champions League games against French clubs (four vs Lille, two vs Rennes).
Liam Rosenior will be the 16th manager to see his first knockout stage game in the UEFA Champions League come against the reigning champions. Of the previous 15, only one of those has been victorious (D5 L9): Ralf Rangnick in April 2011 (FC Schalke 04 5-2 Internazionale, quarter-final first leg).
Head-to-head
19:10 , Chris WilsonThese two sides have met eight times in this competition in the past, with Chelsea winning two, PSG winning three and three ending as draws.
The first meeting came in the group stages in 2004/05, where Chelsea drew 0-0 at home before winning 3-0 away.
And the most recent meeting came in the round of 16 in 2015/16, where the Parisian side won both legs 2-1.
Of course, these teams also contested the ‘first’ Club World Cup final last summer, with the Blues dismantling the European champions on their way to a 3-0 win.

Why Liam Rosenior’s return to PSG is this year’s most fascinating Champions League knockout tie
19:00 , Chris WilsonIf Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at Arsenal was considered “boring” by many, that wasn’t how the Paris Saint-Germain coaching staff saw it. They thought it was an extremely high-end game, with a lot going into it. There were rotations, unexpected movements and a constant sense of “5D chess” to get players into positions.
Like Arsenal, the PSG staff were seeing Liam Rosenior giving the opposition a lot of unexpected things to think about. They were also seeing how the young coach had evidently upscaled from Strasbourg, that he was able to add even greater layers of sophistication to his approach with superior players.

Chelsea team news – Sanchez dropped
18:54 , Lawrence OstlereThe big news is that Robert Sanchez has been dropped. A big call by Liam Rosenior, and we saw last night how a change of goalkeeper can turn out. Filip Jorgensen is the man between the posts.
Otherwise the line-up is as expected, with Cole Palmer operating from the right side and Reece James in midfield.

Rosenior on PSG
18:25 , Chris WilsonChelsea boss Liam Rosenior has faced PSG several times in his career, and this is what he had to say on the French side ahead of this latest fixture:
“They were so good last year. I was admiring the football they were playing. They have world class players and a world class manager and I expect a difficult challenge tactically, physically and technically.
“But we have world class players too. It should be a great game for the neutral. We have to remember it's a two-legged game and we have discipline for that aspect,” he added.
Match stats
18:15 , Chris WilsonPSG and Chelsea last faced off in the Champions League in the last 16 in 2015/16, with the French side winning both legs 2-1.
The French side have progressed from their last three Champions League knockout ties against English clubs, all of which came last season (Liverpool in last 16, Aston Villa in the quarter-final, Arsenal in the semi-final).

The Champions League has eroded the soul of European football – here’s how to fix it
18:05 , Chris WilsonWhen the draw for the Champions League last 16 was made, there were at least a few Uefa figures who winced. That was because they were anticipating reactions like that of Pep Guardiola, who rightly said it was “a little bit weird” that Manchester City and Real Madrid were facing each other for the fifth consecutive season and sixth occasion in seven years. Some in Uefa counter that comes from the clear logic of the new seeding system, that the clubs voted for.
But what else is likely to happen when it’s mostly the same teams all the time? And now, increasingly, when it’s teams from the same country all the time?
