Following the retirement of Gonzalo Higuain, Inter Miami have a designated player spot available and reports seem to suggest that they want fill it with the former Argentina striker's international teammate Lionel Messi.
Messi is still playing at the top of his game for both club and country, but at 35 years old he will be considering the final steps of his career. That move could see him cross the Atlantic and play in the MLS with David Beckham -owned Miami.
Reports in America suggested that Messi was close to agreeing a deal to move to the American side, but his representatives have come out and stated that this is wide of the mark. The forward's focus will be fully on the World Cup and if he is to make a decision he will not make it till after the tournament ends or Argentina are knocked out.

However Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has played down the possibility of Messi leaving the French club. He told Sky Sports : "Definitely. He's very happy, you can see that with the national team. If a player's not happy you will see their performance not good for the national team.
"He performed fantastic this season for us, he's scored a lot of goals and assists for the national team and for the club. So what we agreed together - that after the World Cup, sit down together. But both sides - our side of the club and him - are very happy, so we will talk after the World Cup."
Messi has scored seven goals in 13 Ligue 1 games so far alongside four in five in the Champions League showing he still has the talent to play at the highest level and making him invaluable to PSG. However, the decision lies with the Argentinian.
Beckham's Miami franchise are managed by his former United teammate Phil Neville.
