PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi 'meets Daniel Levy' to discuss Qatar investment in Tottenham

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi reportedly met with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy earlier this week to talk about potential investment into the club.

Al-Khelaifi’s Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) – who have owned the French capital club since their 2011 takeover – are hopeful of expanding their portfolio with minority investments in multiple clubs. Spurs are said to be among the clubs in which there is interest in investment, with Levy facing growing discontent from Spurs fans.

Alongside owning 100 percent of PSG, QSI have a 21.67 percent stake in Portuguese club Braga – widely recognised as the fourth biggest club in the nation – but they are thought to be hopeful of becoming minority investors in another European club in continental competition, alongside at least one South American club.

That led Al-Khelaifi to hold an exploratory meeting with Spurs chairman Levy this week in London. That information has been detailed by CBS Sports, who claim that talks were at a primitive stage and no decision has been made from either side regarding potential investment.

QSI are thought to be considering a number of potential clubs in European football in which to become minority investors, with Spurs among the higher profile on their shortlist. It has been insisted that Liverpool – who are publicly seeking a full or partial sale – are not being considered.

QSI is thought to be owned by the Qatar finance ministry and the Qatar Olympic Committee. Al-Khelaifi is the chairman of QSI.

Al-Khelaifi publicly confirmed two months ago that he was considering selling a minority share of PSG to new investors. QSI are not interested in a full sale of the club, but an unnamed American investment fund has been linked with buying 15 percent of Les Parisiens.

QSI bought 21.67% of the shares of Braga for €80million (£70m) in October in the first major sign that Al-Khelaifi was looking to spread funds around rather than concentrate solely on PSG. It coincided with the World Cup being held in Qatar.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust (THST) said last week that it has written to the board seeking responses to “genuine concerns.” It comes just days after Tottenham fans chanted: “Daniel Levy - get out of our club” at the chairman and manager Antonio Conte warned he cannot compete with big-spending Premier League rivals.
