Top clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona could still form their own European Super League, if the comments of PSG's chairman are anything to go by.
Nasser Al Khelaifi, is also chairman of the European Club Association - an organisation that has had to fend off moves by some of the best sides in Europe, including Liverpool, as they attempted to break away and run their own competition in 2020.
When asked about the threat of a further push to force the separate competition through by Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona, Al Khelaifi questioned their motives, but suggested that the door was still open for those who really wanted to strike out on their own.

Speak to Rob Harris on Sky News, he said: "Respect the fans. Management, what do they want? They're playing Champions League. Why are they playing Champions League if they don't want it? If they really can't stand Champions League just leave [the] Champions League? Play your domestic (matches), go and do something between the three of you. Why are you playing the Champions League?
"If I don't like something, I say I don't like it, and we're going to do it [something else]."
Although support for a European Super League is relatively low in English football, the idea is more openly considered on the continent and an up-coming ruling could have significant consequences around whether there is a grounds for charging ahead with the breakaway project.
Next week, the European Court of Justice will decide whether European football's governing body UEFA holds a monopoly over the organisation of competitions like the Champions League. Al Khelaifi himself is said to have gained significant power in the game as a result of the collapse of the Super League proposal and he will very much be in the corner of UEFA as political storm gathers pace at the top of the sport.
