A leak related to the PlayStation 5 Pro seemingly revealed the upgraded console unit's design look and name despite Sony's attempts to hide such information.
The one responsible for the recent development is prolific leaker bilbil-kun who posted an illustration that shows the console model.
Based on the image, the PlayStation 5 Pro looks very similar to the base model. However, the leaker also detailed more information regarding the upgraded unit.
PlayStation 5 Pro Leak
The item that was seen in the image was white in color and had two USB-C ports as well as a power button located on the front side of the unit itself. The major difference between the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Pro is the three ridged lines on the console's shell.
This aesthetic is an upgrade to the one ridged line that is found on the PlayStation 5 Slim console unit. The PlayStation 5 Pro will reportedly be offered as a digital-only model, supposedly to keep costs to a minimum, according to Eurogamer.
However, the latest report on the upgraded console unit suggests that it could still be possible to affix the PlayStation 5 disc drive add-on to the Pro unit. What people should know for now is that there is no confirmation either way.
On top of this new information, there are no expected changes that will be made to the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.
The latest leak for the PlayStation 5 Pro's design comes only a few weeks ahead of the unit's official announcement which is expected sometime in September.
Other than the design of the upgraded console unit, bilbil-kun also leaked the final name of the mid-gen refresh; that it actually is PlayStation 5 Pro. The leaker also said that he expects Sony to announce the model in the first half of next month, said IGN.
The rumors surrounding the PlayStation 5 Pro have been circulating the internet for quite some time now. What many players are looking at now are the previous reports that the unit will be coming out sometime in November this year.
The Unit's Upgraded Power
The specs for the PlayStation 5 Pro leaked in March 2024, which were believed to have been accurate information. The major improvements to the console were the CPU, which is said to be identical to the standard model's CPU but with a "High CPU Frequency Mode."
This reportedly means that it gets a 10% increase and goes up to 3.85GHz. On the other hand, the GPU is said to enable faster rendering and higher-quality ray tracing powered by 33.5 teraflops.
The rumored spec sheet made people believe that the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro is going to be an 8K gaming powerhouse. But for now, we can only wait for Sony's official confirmation to be sure of what the unit can do, according to Tom's Guide.
