Another week, another legal battle for Elon Musk‘s many companies, with Brazil moving to potentially ban the social media platform X by the end of today. Meanwhile, more PS5 Pro evidence has also been leaked online, suggesting we might hear an announcement for the new console soon.

7. PlayStation 5 Pro Rumours Start To Ramp Up
A sketch of a potential PS5 Pro leaked online today, stirring up more speculation that we’ll be hearing about a mid-generation console update sometime soon.
In an article on Dealabs, reliable PlayStation leaker billbil-kun published a sketch of the console’s design based on what is claimed to be the final packaging box of the new console.
It’s speculated that we might be hearing something about the console and its new specs sometime in September. So hopefully this means we’ll stop seeing new games released on PS4 and let the poor thing finally rest.
6. Brazil Threatens To Ban Elon Musk’s X
A Judge in Brazil is threatening to ban X (formerly known as Twitter) from the country. The decision comes after a month long legal battle between Judge Alexandre de Moraes and Elon Musk. The battle started after Moraes opened an inquiry into how Twitter may have helped “digital militias” plot the 2023 insurrection to re-instate former president Jair Bolsonaro.
The legal battle has had several escalations, prompting Musk to move their legal representation out of the country. Earlier this month, X also chose to close all physical offices in the country. Per Brazillian law, foreign companies must have legal representation to operate in the country. This ensures a company representative can be notified of legal decisions and take any requisite action.
Earlier on Thursday, the Brazillian Supreme Court also moved to block the local bank accounts of Musk’s Starlink satellite firm over unpaid fines.
Musk has responded by calling the Judge a dictator and against free speech. If Musk does not comply with the Moraes’ order, we could see X blocked in the country by the end of today.
5. Telegram CEO Arrested In France
Founder and CEO of Telegram Pavel Durov was arrested in Paris over the weekend, with allegations that the platform he created is being used for illegal activity like money laundering, drug trafficking, and sharing child pornography.
The charges held against Telegram’s CEO by French investigative judges allege that Pavel Durov has failed to prevent illicit activity on the app, and is complicity in enabling said criminal activity.
In defence of these charges, the app released a statement online that asserted it abides by European Union laws, and its content moderation is “within industry standards and constantly improving”.
4. Star Wars Outlaws Releases Today
Star Wars Outlaws releases today, offering Star Wars fans a fun new adventure filled with planets to visit, new characters to meet, and most importantly, more stormtroopers to shoot at.
Reviews of the game have been somewhat mixed. Many critics pointed out that while the game feels overfamiliar and tells too simple a story, it’s still a great Star Wars game. The game also suffers from some bugs and overall jank, which brings down its overall quality.

3. Playstation’s Concord Flops On Release
PlayStation’s Concord is the latest live-service game to flop on release this year, barely breaking 700 concurrent players on launch. Even sadder, many noticed that last year’s famously panned The Lord of The Rings: Gollum was beating Concord in live players. Which is an incredible low point I don’t know how you recover from.
It’s speculated that the game could end up being a $200 million loss for PlayStation.
2. Nintendo Live Hitting Sydney This Weekend
Nintendo is hosting a massive convention this weekend at Sydney’s International Convention & Exhibition Centre. The company is bringing down the iconic voice of Mario Charles Martinet for meet & greets and will be hosting a bunch tournaments across the weekend. Sadly, all tickets are exhausted, so if you’re just finding out about it, I’m sorry to say you’re out of luck in getting to see it.
The company has said that the event is to give fans of all ages a new way to experience the games and worlds of Nintendo and offer them new ways to buy exclusive merch. As expected, they were also quick to shut down any rumours that they’ll be announcing a Switch 2 at the event. (But that doesn’t rule out a new Mario RPG announcement, let’s keep that hopium flowing folks).
1. Video Games ‘Alan Wake’ & ‘Control’ To Receive Film and TV Adaptations
Studio Annapurna announced Thursday that it has partnered with Remedy Entertainment, the developer of Alan Wake and Control to produce film, TV and audiovisual projects based on the games. The announcement also confirmed that Annapurna will also co-produce and co-finance an upcoming sequel to Control.
Alan Wake 2 was one of the stand-out best games from last year and has quickly become a cult classic for horror fans. The game also had significant live-action portions and follows an episodic format, making it perfect for adapting.
