Dame Prue Leith will be taking a step back from The Great British Bake Off celebrity series, it has been revealed.
The 84-year-old has been a judge on the popular baking show since 2017, alongside Paul Hollywood, who has been part of it since its inception in 2010.
Leith joined the show after Mary Berry chose to step down from her role when the series moved from BBC to Channel 4.
Fans are gearing up to see Leith return to the white tent on Sunday as The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off kicks off with Spencer Matthews, Paloma Faith, Munya Chawawa, and Jodie Whittaker vying to be crowned star baker.
While Leith has teased her excitement for the upcoming episode, Love Productions, who produce the show, has revealed that this will be her last Stand Up To Cancer series due to filming commitments.
The said in a statement: “Prue will be stepping back from The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.”
According to The Sun, the show is reportedly eyeing up replacements for the summer series with Nigella Lawson a favourite.
While she may be hanging up her apron for the charity-installment, viewers will continue to see Leith again for the civilian series alongside hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.
Speaking about the change, Leith shared a statement to The Standard via her representative: “I absolutely love working on Bake Off and am looking forward to filming the next series and meeting our new bakers.
“I am only stepping back from the Celebrity series, which is just a question of the filming commitment involved as we make these shows back to back.”
