After being diagnosed with kidney cancer, NSW deputy Labor leader Prue Car says she's being buoyed by support, with one of her constituents even offering to donate a kidney.
The 39-year-old western Sydney MP says her symptoms of fatigue and headaches were so minor she could easily have dismissed them as "things you would put down to being a mum".
However, her partner urged her to go to the doctor and she was shocked when tests detected a large tumour on her kidney.
"It sounds like that they found it early enough to deal with it," the Londonderry MP told Sydney radio 2GB on Tuesday.
"They can hopefully operate and then I'll get back to causing trouble for the Liberals in NSW," she said.
Ms Car has been overwhelmed with support since revealing her diagnosis on Monday.
"One of my constituents yesterday even called the office and offered to donate their kidney - that was a bit of a surprise," she said.
