A Scots dad was left horrified after a late night prowler armed with a hammer was caught lurking around his home on Ring doorbell footage.
David Welsh, from Garrowhill in Glasgow, was astonished when his son, also named David, contacted him about the hooded figure trying to gain access to the property.
Son David, 29, helped his dad set up CCTV through doorbell app Ring, and gets alert notifications straight to his mobile phone.
In the footage, a man can be seen peering through windows and trying to access the family's home at 8pm on Wednesday night.
After failing to gain entry, he turns and walks back down the driveway, and can be seen clutching a hammer and a crowbar.
Speaking to the Record, David, 64, explained: "I was upstairs fast asleep and didn't even know anything about it until my son had got in touch.
"He has the Ring CCTV app on his phone and he got a notification when the sensors picked this guy up approaching the house.
"He hangs around for a wee bit at the front door.
"He's holding a hammer in one hand and a crowbar in the other. What was he going to do with them?
"We slept right through it but my fear is wondering what would have happened had he got inside."
Police were called to the property following the incident, but no criminality was established.
Officers did however brief him on how to handle the situation in future, but David says he hopes it doesn't come to that.
The male prowler is described as tall, gaunt and was wearing a white Addidas bubble type jacket, with his hood up.
David added: "Thankfully, nothing seems to have been taken but it is just the thought of someone lurking around outside my home.
"I don't want him to be trying anyone else's house next."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8pm on Wednesday, 4 May, officers received a report of a man having been seen acting suspiciously on Rosedale Drive, Glasgow, around 2am that morning.
"Enquiries were carried out and no criminality was established, however advice and guidance was provided.”
