VIJAYAWADA: The high court on Monday asked the CBI to produce proper evidence for seeking cancellation of bail given to Thumma Gangi Reddy, alias Yerra Gangi Reddy, the main accused in YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
The petition was moved before the high court seeking cancellation of bail granted to Gangi Reddy by the lower court. A Chennakeshavulu, the standing counsel for CBI, argued that Gangi Reddy is the main accused in the murder and has been influencing key witnesses in the case.
Chennakeshavulu further said that Gangi Reddy is having political backing and is trying to put pressure on the witnesses through his connections.
He cited one instance, when police inspector Shankaraiah initially agreed to give statement under 164 CrPC but later withdrew.
Considering the arguments, Justice D Ramesh asked CBI to submit some evidence to prove that Gangi Reddy is influencing evidence and posted the matter for further hearing after one week.
