HYDERABAD: Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday asked chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to provide details, if any, on his claims of foreign conspiracy in cloudbursts while assuring that the Centre would investigate the matter thoroughly.
“The government of India takes such claims very seriously, particularly when made by a sitting chief minister,” Kishan Reddy said.
On Sunday, the CM said the recent Godavari floods in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as well as floods in Leh and Uttarakhand, may have been the result of cloudbursts triggered by a foreign hand.
Earlier, he briefed home minister Amit Shah on the flood situation in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The home minister assured him of his full support and informed that 13 NDRF teams have been dispatched to Telangana for relief operations.
Shah also informed Kishan Reddy that despite the Centre granting funds as part of the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), no request for release has been received from Telangana. He said that the SDRF portion has already been released to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and the Centre was ready to release funds to Telangana as well.
Shah said the Centre was prepared to send additional teams to assess damage as soon as both states send requests.
