Newcastle United supporters were overwhelmingly positive on social media after Emil Krafth penned a one-year contract extension. Alongside Joelinton, Ryan Fraser and Fabian Schar, the Swedish international was one of the most improved players under Eddie Howe last season.
The 27-year-old is now on the books until 2024 and will compete with Kieran Trippier and Javier Manquillo for the right-back spot. Signing a new deal seemed out of the question for Krafth a year ago due to a mixed first two seasons on Tyneside.
However, his improved form at the back end of 2021-22 - while Trippier was sidelined through injury - has earned him an extension. Fans praised the Swede for his turnaround once the news broke.

@mark_lockey: Much deserved after the second half of last season. Remarkable what some good coaching and confidence can do!
@DavidJG80: Deserved after a strong end to last season. Good squad player.
@Nufc2Everything: Thoroughly deserved Mr Krafth.
@iangregory70: Sensible business. (He will) be second choice to Trippier and (Newcastle will) get a small fee next summer when we look to upgrade positions that aren't priority currently. But in time (we) will need that extra depth in genuine quality.
@alastair10: Great news. Krafth always unfairly got criticised but he showed last season what a solid player he can be.
@ChrisEllison85: Remember when we used to sigh when he was announced in the starting 11. Fair play to him, well deserved.
@carl_pinchen: Massive improvement at the end of last season! Proved a lot of people wrong. Me included.
