Proud Queen’s loving comment to Prince Louis on Buckingham Palace balcony revealed by lip reader

There was only one true star of the show - but the Queen didn't seem to mind Prince Louis also charming the crowds yesterday.

A lip reader has revealed the Queen's impressed comment to her grandson as they stood on the Buckingham Palace balcony during her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

He was seen pulling a series of expressions during the RAF flypast - ranging from sheer delight to horror as the noisy airplanes boomed overhead.

During the incredible display by the Red Arrows, he could be seen chatting intently with his patient great-grandmother about the aircraft.

The Queen appeared charmed by the Cambridge children's excitement, as she pointed out planes and helicopters that she thought they might be especially delighted by.

Seeing a fleet of helicopters fly low over the palace, she said: "That's our Air Force. The Apaches."

And a lipreader has told the Telegraph what the pair had seemingly been chatting about - and it seems the Queen was full of praise for his enthusiasm.

"Dad, look at those planes, they are so big," said Prince George, according to lipreader Kate Evans.

"Amazing," added Princess Charlotte. And as the Duchess explained how the plane formation had spelt out the number '70', the prince began to intently count on his fingers, while a proud Queen said: "That's very clever, that must have taken a lot of practice."

Lipreader Kate Evans said Prince Louis appeared to ask his great-grandmother if there was more to come - as he raved on about helicopters and planes.

To the delight of the huge crowds gathered to enjoy the celebrations, the Cambridge children were captured in high spirits, as Princess Charlotte could be seen tussling with her cousin at the window.

The three are playing a key role in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for the Queen - who they sweetly have nicknamed 'Gan-Gan'.

Earlier, the smiling seven-year-old could be seen putting her hand on four-year-old Louis' arm in an attempt to get him to stop waving.

And it seems Louis didn't stop peppering his great-grandmother with questions yesterday as they stood together on the balcony.

The Queen will be watching the service at St Paul’s on television from Windsor Castle.

She is expected to be resting at her Berkshire residence after the busy start to the Jubilee festivities on Thursday.
