Proteus boosts tech capabilities with five Edinburgh hires

London-based transformation consultancy Proteus is looking to enhance its trademark data insights and technology credentials as it scales up.

The business today announced the appointment of Craig Fenton as chief operating officer, as well as four new additions to the software team at its Edinburgh office.

Further expansion is planned in the coming months, according to a statement.

After the acquisition of intelligent change delivery platform Sharktower in February, Proteus is committing significant investment to enhance its data insights and technology solutions for clients.

Fenton joins after 30 years’ in the tech sector, gaining experience of service management, business IT consulting, ICT programme management and digital transformation.

Most recently he was chief operating officer at tech start-up Data Innovation.AI. Previously, he spent 16 years at consultancy firm PTS, where he was a partner and part of the management team running UK operations.

Kirsty Munro, an experienced developer with expertise in streamlining the development process, joins the team as dev ops engineer.

In her new role at Proteus, she will be responsible for simplifying and automating the processes that underpin development of scalable software solutions. She joins Proteus from insurance company Cigna.

Graeme Watt, a designer who has worked in user experience and product design for more than 10 years, will take responsibility for digital product design as lead product designer. He joins from Tesco Bank, having previously worked with Sharktower as one of the early members of the team.

Software engineers Rose Hissink and Stephen Bradley complete the new line up.

Hissink, another former Sharktower team member, joins from Unity Technologies, while Bradley comes in from TVSquared, where he was a full stack developer. In their new roles, both will be responsible for delivering new features and enhancements across the Proteus product stack.

In addition to expanding its tech capabilities, Proteus has also recently recruited four new additions to the consulting practice in response to client demand.

The hunt for talent continues, with the business looking to recruit new data analysts and data visualisation engineers in the coming months. Many will be based in the Edinburgh office, while others join from across the UK and further afield.

Craig Mackay, chief executive of Proteus, said: “This year is one of scalable growth and proposition development, enabling us to power the wave of change and help organisations become sustainable in change.

“Data, AI and software is central to that proposition, so we are always looking to attract the brightest and best in tech talent.

“By investing in these excellent new team members we are well placed to strengthen our capabilities, and offer truly innovative solutions and services to our clients.”
