NEW DELHI: Protesting wrestlers, led by Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, intensified their efforts on Thursday to gather support in their fight against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The wrestlers embarked on tours across different parts of North India as they sought backing for the planned women's Mahapanchayat, scheduled for May 28.
Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat visited Jind in Haryana, while Sakshi Malik, the bronze medallist from the Rio Olympics, and her husband Satyawart Kadian reached Punjab. They sought support from women's organisations and urged them to participate in large numbers in the women's panchayat, which will be held near the new Parliament building on the day of its inauguration.
