Organized by the Women's March, this event marked the first major protest in the nation's capital since Trump's win.
The spokesperson for Women's March stated that the event aimed to build community and power following the 2024 election. Tamika Middleton, managing director of Women's March, emphasized the message of hope and resilience, urging attendees to continue fighting for themselves and each other.
Attendees traveled from various locations, including San Diego and Maryland, to participate in the protest. The gathering featured songs performed by a local DC cover band and a display of homemade and provided signs by the event hosts.
One attendee, Dan Parr, expressed feeling deflated by the election results and attended the protest to channel his anger positively. The event lasted approximately an hour and 45 minutes, with Middleton announcing plans for another march scheduled for January 18, just two days before Inauguration Day.
