CAMPAIGNERS have occupied Scottish Power HQ in protest against rising energy bills and “sky-rocketing” levels of fuel poverty, according to organisers.
Members of the grass-roots movements Don’t Pay UK and Fuel Poverty Action said campaigners had bedded down with blankets, sleeping bags and hot water bottles in the foyer of the Glasgow-based energy company at around 9am.
Meanwhile, another “warm-up” demonstration in London saw a group of activists enter the British Museum’s great hall – the largest indoor public square in Europe – where they also protested against the museum’s sponsorship links with oil giant BP, according to Don’t Pay UK.
