As former President Donald Trump's rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, approaches, a group of protesters has gathered near the venue, highlighting the city's significant Puerto Rican population. The protesters, carrying signs and waving Puerto Rican flags, are making their voices heard with messages such as 'Our voice, our vote' and 'Nov 5 is trash day, let's put you where you belong.'
Chanting the Spanish slogan 'El pueblo, unido, jamás será vencido,' which translates to 'The people, united, will never be defeated,' the demonstrators are expressing their unity and resistance against various regimes.
This demonstration comes in the wake of derogatory remarks made about Puerto Rico during Trump's recent rally at Madison Square Garden. Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's comments, including referring to Puerto Rico as 'a floating island of garbage,' have sparked outrage among the Puerto Rican community.
On the other side of the spectrum, signs reading 'Boricuas for Trump' were visible at the rally entrance, showcasing support from individuals of Puerto Rican descent. The term 'Boricua' is commonly used to refer to someone of Puerto Rican heritage.
It is worth noting that Pennsylvania is home to approximately 500,000 Puerto Ricans, making their presence and influence significant in this battleground state.
