Proposal to remove three Nottingham businesses near railway station to build nearly 700 flats

A plan to remove three businesses from a site to build hundreds of student and private flats has been put forward by developers. The units on Queen's Road, near Nottingham railway station, would be transformed into a 406-bed space student accommodation block and two build-to-rent apartment buildings containing 245 flats, if new proposals are approved.

The site is currently occupied by United Carpets, used car sellers NottinghamCar.com and Magpie Security Ltd. All of these companies would have to relocate if the plans moved forward, causing concern for some.

Shaun Radford, 44, who is the manager of the United Carpets store at the site, said he was worried about the impact of having to move the business once again. "It will be the second time we have had to move, and it was a real hassle last time. We had been on the edge of Crocus Street near to the Meadows, but had to move about seven years ago because of the tram line being built.
