Proposal for new industrial units next to the Quinton Hazell site in North Wales

Proposals are set to be put forward for an industrial development that could bring new units close to the A55.

Dare2soar Ltd are working with Cadnant Planning to develop a hybrid planning application for land to the north of Quinton Hazell Enterprise Parc, in Mochdre, Colwyn Bay

The site is currently vacant, and has previously been used as a landfill site and later as sport pitches.

The proposal seeks full approval for eight units totalling 1,300sqm in phase one and the outline go-ahead for a phase two - which would have 17 units totalling 4,040sqm.

A pre-applicaton consultation is currently taking place.

In a statement, Cadnant Planning said Conwy council’s Business and Tourism department has advised that there is a strong demand for employment units up to 4/5000 sq ft along the A55 corridor and in particular within the Colwyn Bay and Conwy area.

It added: “The role of Colwyn Bay in delivering economic growth is recognised as a national level, with Future Wales recognising the Colwyn Bay as a focus for growth within the North Wales Costal Settlements Growth Areas. The development proposal would foster economic growth, by providing units of varying sizes which would attract enterprise from a broad range of sectors.”

The consultation ends on June 1 with responses considered before an application is submitted.
