Properties evacuated in North Lanarkshire after 'chemical leak'

A "CHEMICAL leak" has prompted the evacuation of several properties in North Lanarkshire. 

Police and fire crews are currently in attendance at a premises on Cameron Street in Coatbridge following reports of the incident.

It is understood that various roads including Burnbank Street at Coltswood Road, Cromlet Drive, and Northburn Industrial Estate have all been closed. 

Officers say that local properties have also been evacuated as a precaution. 

Police have warned members of the public to avoid the area. 

There are no reported injuries. 

An investigation into the leak is ongoing.
