The Board of Governors at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin has unanimously voted for Professor Seán Daly to be the next master of the hospital.
A special meeting of the Board of Governors of the Rotunda on Thursday, March 31 considered the recommendation from its interview panel which was convened to fill the position of the next Chief Executive Officer (Master) of the Rotunda Hospital for the coming seven years, commencing January 2023.
It comes after several other candidates were also interviewed and considered for the position.

In a statement, the board said: "This ratification by the Board included a comprehensive review of the recruitment and selection process for the Mastership.
"Following this review, and after satisfying itself that the provisions of the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointments) Act 2004 were fully adhered to, the Board voted unanimously to ratify the appointment of Professor Seán Daly as the 40th Master of the Rotunda.
Professor Daly is currently a Consultant Obstetrician-Gynaecologist and subspecialist in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Rotunda Hospital, while also providing service at Cavan/Monaghan and Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda Hospitals, as well as being Associate Clinical Director for Maternity Services at the RCSI Hospitals Group.
He previously served as CEO /Master of the Coombe Women & Infants Hospital, Dublin from 1999 to 2005, thereby being the first person ever to lead two maternity hospitals in Ireland.
Commenting on the Board’s ratification Professor Tom Matthews, Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the Rotunda said: “The Board is delighted to appoint Prof Sean Daly, one of the most highly qualified and experienced obstetrician-gynaecologists in Ireland, with an unrivalled clinical and managerial background, to the role of Chief Executive Officer / Master of the Rotunda.
"We have no doubt that, under his leadership, the Rotunda will maintain and enhance its position as Ireland’s leading maternity hospital and the maternity hospital of choice. Together with all of the Rotunda’s Governors, I look forward to supporting Seán in this vital leadership role over the coming seven years.”
