Over half of young girls have been inspired to take up a new sport by professional sportswomen like Emma Raducanu or England's national women's football team, the Lionesses, research has found.
The survey of 1,000 girls, aged 11 to 17, found 60% believe having an inspirational role model is the best way to kickstart a sporting journey.
A third (34%) of young female football players said they were encouraged to do so after watching inspirational sporting moments, like the progress of the Lionesses.
