A proclamation ceremony was held in West Dunbartonshire on Sunday to declare King Charles III as monarch.
Council chief executive Peter Hessett read out the proclamation statement on the steps of Dumbarton’s Municipal Buildings at 1pm.
He was joined by more than 100 well-wishers and local dignitaries including Provost Douglas McAllister, Vice Lord Lieutenant Linda Moffat, and elected members.
Representatives from Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, as well as former provosts and representatives from the church were in attendance.
The historic event was one of many planned around the country for King Charles III following his official proclamation ceremony at St James Palace in London in front of the Accession Council on Saturday
Millions of people were able to watch the historic moment live on television for the first time.
Provost McAllister said: “We are united in our support for His Majesty King Charles III in his new position of monarch, and continue to offer our condolences to all members of the Royal Family on what is the saddest of occasions.”
Flags on council buildings were raised to full mast to mark the London proclamation and were lowered to half-mast on Sunday after the local event.
They will remain at half-mast for the duration of the national period of mourning leading up to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II funeral on Monday, September 19.
A grass area outside the Municipal Buildings has been designated for any floral tributes.
A Book of Condolence has also opened there, as well as at Clydebank Town Hall and online, to offer residents the opportunity to share their own tributes.
In his first televised address as King, Charles said on Friday: “As the Queen herself did with such unswerving devotion, I too now solemnly pledge myself, throughout the remaining time God grants me, to uphold the constitutional principles at the heart of our nation.
“And wherever you may live in the United Kingdom, or in the realms and territories across the world, and whatever may be your background or beliefs, I shall endeavour to serve you with loyalty, respect and love, as I have throughout my life.”
