Pro-Trump outside groups have intensified their attack ads targeting Vice President Kamala Harris this week, focusing on a variety of issues, including transgender policies, which have become a prominent theme in Republican advertising.
Preserve America, a prominent pro-Trump super PAC backed by megadonor Miriam Adelson, launched two new ads on Wednesday. These ads criticized Harris for her past support of taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for detained immigrants and federal prisoners during her 2020 presidential campaign. One ad featured a Wisconsin voter expressing concerns about high inflation and accusing Harris of using taxpayer dollars to provide illegal immigrants with hotel accommodations and supporting funding for gender reassignment procedures for undocumented individuals.
Other leading pro-Trump groups, such as MAGA Inc., have also increased their advertising efforts targeting Harris on LGBTQ rights issues. MAGA Inc.'s recent ad claimed that Harris would use taxpayer money to fund transgender surgeries for criminal illegal aliens, contrasting her stance with that of former President Trump, who the ad portrayed as supportive of traditional values.
These ads signal a notable shift in messaging from Republican advertisers, including the Trump campaign, which has recently placed a stronger emphasis on LGBTQ rights and transgender healthcare policies. In early October, the Trump campaign rolled out a series of new ads focusing on these issues. Additionally, a Spanish-language version of one of these ads attacking Harris on transgender policies was launched by the Trump campaign on Wednesday.
The surge in attack ads against Harris from pro-Trump groups underscores the growing importance of LGBTQ rights and transgender policies as key points of contention in the political landscape.
