Pro-Ject has given Bluetooth powers to its entry-level E1.2 turntable, alongside a new iteration which features a built-in phono stage.
The Bluetooth-capable E1.2BT and phono-sporting E1.2 Phono ape the general design and configuration of the standard E1.2 model, focusing on budget-friendly performance and convenience bolstered by Bluetooth 5.4 streaming or a phono preamplifier, respectively.
The E1.2 BT turntable features a built-in Bluetooth transmitter with hi-res aptX HD codec support, meaning you can wirelessly stream vinyl playback wirelessly to speakers, headphones, or even compatible amplifiers if you so choose.
The Phono edition, conversely, incorporates what Pro-Ject describes as a “high-quality phono preamp for superior signal processing and noticeably improved sound performance”, boasting advanced circuitry designed to reduce noise and distortion while preserving the detail and natural character of your vinyl.
The E1.2 BT and E1.2 Phono share the same heavy die-cast aluminium main platter as their standard E1.2 counterpart, creating what Pro-Ject describes as an “ideal, anti-resonant platform”. In pursuit of more stable playback, the platter has been precision-balanced to grant a more even rotation and improve acoustic performance.
Each new turntable comes equipped with a Pick It MM E phono cartridge, which uses a conical diamond tip to deliver “warm and smooth audio” with low background noise.
The cartridge is attached to a pre-calibrated 8.6-inch aluminium tonearm with a carbon-reinforced headshell and a heavy-mass gimbal bearing for smooth movement during operation.
Both belt-driven players feature electronic speed-switching for 33⅓ and 45rpm via a single button, with Pro-Ject again aiming for a pair of entry-level decks that prioritise ease of use as much as sonic performance.
The Pro-Ject E1.2 BT is available now, priced at £399 / €399 in the ‘standard’ High Gloss Black or Walnut finishes. The five 'Colour' finishes, which include Satin White and a rather sunny Satin Golden Yellow option, will bump that price up to £449 / €449.
The E1.2 Phono is available now in High Gloss Black, Satin White and Walnut colourways, priced at £319 / €359.
