Look, I know opinions are just that, and everyone is entitled to them. God knows I’ve been crucified on more than one occasion for mine. However, sometimes you run across a piece that makes you wonder if the author is really serious.
Take a list that came out from Pro Football Focus. The fine folks over there took a stab (blindly mind you) at the ten best quarterbacks in the country for 2022 and had Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud behind Bryce Young. Why is that a problem you say? It’s not really because many folks have the Alabama quarterback — last year’s Heisman winner — just a notch ahead.
But that’s not what everybody has a beef about. Not only was Stroud behind Young, but he was also behind Caleb Williams and Spencer Rattler, two guys that didn’t play a full season, one of which was benched for the other.
As a reminder, Stroud was a Heisman and Davey O’Brien finalist last season after throwing for 4,435 yards with 44 touchdowns to just six interceptions. He completed almost 72 percent of his attempts, which according to PFF, is good enough for just fourth on the list coming into the fall.

Yikes. Well, we’ll have to revisit this list at the end of the season. Maybe Pro Football Focus has some inside knowledge and a crystal ball that nobody else has.
Go prove ’em wrong Stroud.
