Daryz wins back-to-back Prix de l’Arc de Triomphes at Longchamp – as it happened

Well that’s all for another year on Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe day. As usual there’s been some superb racing but the undoubted highlight was seeing Daryz win the big race for the second year running – it’s been a long time since seeing Alleged win back-to-back Arcs in the late 1970s and the winner was completing something pretty special. The sadness is that we’re pretty unlikely to see him come back for a crack at immortality and a third win in a row. Owner Princess Zahra Aga Khan stated at the press conference that Daryz is more likely to go to stud than return to Longchamp in search of a third Arc next October. “You get to the point where you’re taking a risk every time you run the horse,” she said. “His mother improved with age but would we want him to train on for another year? I’m not sure. He has other things to do.”
