AGRA: In a disturbing video widely circulated on social media on Friday, a female teacher of a private school in UP’s Muzaffarnagar district can be purportedly seen encouraging students to slap their classmate, an eight-year-old Muslim boy.
As the boy stands alone in front of the class, scared and whimpering, the teacher, seen seated, can be heard saying in Hindi: “These Muslim children... Why don’t you all slap him with full force.” Little students, thereafter, can queue up one by one to hit their classmate, who is crying. While one boy slaps the kid on his head, another whacks him on the back.
Taking note of the purported video, which has already caused outrage among the public, police said “objectionable remarks were made and strong measures would be taken once they receive a complaint.” DSP (Khatauli) Ravi Shankar Mishra said on Friday, “I just received this information and we have started an investigation. The incident took place at Neha Public School in Khubbapur under Mansoorpur police limits.”
The DSP added: “Preliminary investigation found that the teacher who runs a school from her house forced students to beat another pupil...” Basic Shiksha Adhikari in Muzaffarnagar, Shubham Shukla, said, “The teacher has been identified as Tripti Tyagi. A departmental inquiry has been ordered and action will be taken against the school management and the teacher. Block education officer will file a police complaint in the case.”
The boy’s father Irshad, a mechanic, said, “We don’t want to teach our child in that school anymore. The school management has returned our fees. We also don’t want to take this matter forward as it may affect my son’s education.”
