Private island mansion on the market for £58m but underwater 'surprise' may put you off

A mansion on its own private island in Montana, US, has gone on the market for $72m (£58m).

Measuring across 45,000 sq ft, the property truly is monstrous in size and is rumoured to have its own monster that lurks beneath the surface of the surrounding water.

It's been rumoured for hundreds of years that in the water around the home lives its very own lake monster similar to Scotland's 'Nessie'

Flathead Lake, which is the largest natural inland body of water west of the Mississippi, has been said to be the home of the mysterious water creature 'Flessie'.

It's believed the bizarre legend of the sub-aquatic creature decked out in deer antlers started over 100 years ago by the Kutenai Indian Tribe.

However, sightings are still being reported of 'Flessie' and the property listed on TopTenRealEstateDeals is the ideal spot to try and catch a glimpse of the beast.

The remarkable property isn't only stunning on the outside but is quite unique on the inside too. It's actually a 'shell' house which means only the exterior has been completed.

As it's completely empty on the inside, it's a perfect opportunity for those looking to put their own stamp on their home.

The land that the property is on was originally purchased by antique collector and explorer Robert M. Lee in the late 1980s.

It was Robert and his wife who built the exterior shell, alongside a guest house. However, he died in 2016 before the interior of the main house was completed.

Whoever purchases the property will be able to stay in the guest house, which has been fully completed, while renovations take place and enjoy the stunning views of the Mission Mountains.

That is, if they don’t mind sharing with a monster.
